August 2018 White Bear Lake Magazine

In the August issue meet four fantastic rising seniors in our annual Prep Elite feature.

As early as 1913, the White Bear school board was planning for a new, larger building to be the home of high school classes. Prior to that, students went to North St. Paul or St.

No matter how many forms of entertainment that are available, there’s something unique about the satisfaction we get from reading a book. Kindles, Nooks and e-books are convenient and let you access thousands of titles just by touching your screen.

The Lakeshore Players Theatre has a new home, the Hanifl Performing Arts Center. Since its beginning in 1953, it has been based in two different churches. Now for the first time, the White Bear Lake-based theatre has a performance space to call its own.

Each August, we highlight outstanding rising seniors from area schools and talk with them about their inspirations, challenges, passions and hopes for the future.

Most people know the names Jackie Robinson and Babe Ruth, but few have ever heard of John Wesley Donaldson.

Are you wanting to tap into your creative side? Maybe you loved art class in school, but haven’t picked up a paint brush since? White Bear Center for the Arts (WBCA) offers a variety of accessible courses for a wide variety of ages, skill levels and interest.

Have a kid interested in an artistic spin on photography? The White Bear Center for the Arts’ H’art of Photography class provides an opportunity to do just that.
